All-Party Parliamentary Group on Migration

About

With a cross-party membership of MPs and Peers, the Group’s mission is to provide a continued opportunity for evidence-based political debate about the challenges and opportunities relating to contemporary migration flows in the UK.

Key activities undertaken by the APPG on Migration include regular cross-party meetings in Parliament on immigration issues, and engagement with key parliamentarians and other stakeholders. The APPG produces regular briefs to support debate and inquiry, and makes reports on key topics available to members. The Group also carries out inquiries into significant migration-related issues, and has recently examined topics such as the links between immigration policy and poverty, and the roll-out of the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS).

The APPG also carries out visits to understand the real-world impact of legislation and policy. These visits enable members to engage directly with people affected by, or with extensive experience of, migration policies. Recent visits have included a trip to Calais, France, to explore UK–French cooperation on Channel crossings, and a visit to Wethersfield Immigration Detention Centre.

The APPG on Migration is currently focusing on a stream of work relating to the Government’s Immigration White Paper, published in May 2025. The White Paper sets out a series of proposed reforms to the UK’s migration system, signalling potential long-term changes in how the UK approaches migration policy and practice. As the APPG on Migration, we are keen to examine these changes in detail and explore their potential implications. Read about our programme of work on the here.

The APPG is co-chaired by David Simmonds, MP for Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner and Olivia Blake MP for Sheffield, Hallam.

The secretariat of the APPG on Migration is the RAMP Project. The APPG is in the register of All-Party Groups.
