On 12th June, members of the APPG on Migration visited Calais to meet with French officials and gain a deeper understanding of the joint efforts between French and UK authorities in responding to the rise in small boat Channel crossings and the wider complexities of this policy area.
The delegation included APPG Chairs David Simmonds MP and Olivia Blake MP, along with Tony Vaughan KC MP, Chris Murray MP, and Lord German. The visit involved tours of key transit hubs, security infrastructure, and meetings with both French officials and representatives from the British Embassy.
We are very grateful to the French government for their hospitality and the opportunity to learn from this experience.
