On 1 December, the APPG on Migration held an event exlploring whether the UK could introduce a Global Investor Visa. Chaired by Baroness Nosheena Mobarik CBE and Tony Vaughan KC MP, the discussion brought together parliamentarians, policy experts, and representatives from the business, investment, and legal sectors to explore the feasibility and potential design of such a scheme.
Evidence shows that foreign investors make valuable contributions to the UK economy—supporting innovation, business growth, and job creation across sectors such as technology, financial services, and hospitality. With countries like Switzerland, Italy, and Spain offering attractive visa programs, the discussion considered how well-designed, responsible investor visa policies can enhance fiscal revenues, drive economic growth, and strengthen the UK’s appeal to international entrepreneurs and investors.
The session also provided an opportunity for participants to share insights and evidence to inform future policy development.
