On 1 January 2021, the new UK’s Points Based System came into effect, as part of an effort by the Government to ensure that the immigration system prioritises those who come to our country based on their skills. Last December the APPG on Migration heard from a range of employers about their hopes and fears for the new system.
Working with Fragomen LLP, the APPG on Migration then conducted an inquiry to hear, in real time, the impacts that employers from different sectors and in different parts of the country were starting to experience.
Based on a survey and follow-up interviews with a range of employers of different sizes, the inquiry contains feedback about the positive and negative impacts of the new Immigration Rules on employers, employees, the wider economy and communities, to understand how they are responding and adapting to the new system.
An downloadable version of the inquiry’s full Report is now available.
